HES Castle survey completed

Historic Environment Scotland’s structural survey of the Castle has now been completed. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the fences will be coming down any time soon. According to the surveyors the next thing to happen is for paper-work to be processed. That paper-work will presumably then join a mountain of other paper work waiting to be dealt with on all the other monuments that HES has fenced off from public access - which include some 90 castles, churches and ancient sites. Presumably only after all the recommendations of that paper-work have finally been assessed will a time be assigned for the contractors to come and work on the Castle.
